83. Why do you need a copy of the first page of my PASSPORT ?

It is very common for the Navy to like to know who is at the sea at any time.
That is to prevent  illegal activities. Also it helps the Navy locate people in case of emergencies, high seas etc.
Most countries worldwide, if you are at the water they want to know your name.
Normally if you are a tourist you make a line early in the morning and they check your passport and they give you this navigation permit.
It is called a ZARPE. To get the Permit avy office at the pier (Capitania) will be closed.
You have to make a line at the Navy Office at the port (Capitania) very early in the morning.
After you go with your passport, they give it in 2-3 hours. This will be delaying the manager and the boat man and the whole trip for no reason.
This will give you less time to see the island.
If we leave without this permit the boat patrol stops you in front of the island at the Navy station and they turn you back and investigate you.
Personally I am happy that the Navy has these kinds of controls that keeps the place safe.
Because this process is slow and sometimes the delay can result only in getting a permit for the next day,
the Navy (Fuerza Naval) accepts the following solution.
When the boatman appears at the Navy office he has his boat registration and his boat driving licence, so he is responsible for his travelers.
There the boat man (and the island manager) who goes along with him) can present copies of the passports of the passengers,
and the Navy office give him a ZARPE .
That is why we need copies of the front page of the passport of the island visitors.
Besides, there is little anyone can do in Nicaragua with a foreign passport !
If you are still worried about legal implications, you can cross the passport with an X,
And /Or or write over the passport copy “Not for legal purposes”
The Navy office just checks the photo name and the birth date that is all.
Two years ago, the requirements were just to provide  the name, age, and Passport number and the NAVY would give a ZARPE (navigation permit).
Now they do not do that anymore, they need copies of the passport or the passenger itself with the passport.
They do not keep the copies, they just need to see the data.
After you buy the island, the Navy can issue this navigation permit for 2 months every time, because you own a property.
Here is a copy of the ZARPE (navigation permit) just to see what we are talking about.

87 a - Can you help me to continue RENTING OUT the island ? What can I charge per week or day ?

Most ex-patriots that have houses in the Caribbean, usually rent their beach houses out on a daily or weekly basis.
Approximate prices may be about $5 - 10,000 per month, all inclusive.
Usually the owner in the US or elsewhere, finds the clients and arranges the payments
Then, the caretaker in Bluefields buys the supplies, meet the clients at the airport and takes care of the trip.
Our caretakers are capable of arranging the OPERATIONAL part of the trip, that is take the clients to the island .
arrange their meals and return them to the airport.

To get an idea of prices of all inclusive, “complete island” rentals see this site  that specializes in renting islands.
Prices start at $500-$1000 a day and go up to $100,000 a week.

Most owners charge 25-50% for reservations, you get paid in your country, let us say the US.
Pink Pearl Island is the only one in the area that offers overnight accommodations.
It became more famous since it was rented at 2011 for an Italian Reality Survivor TV show.
The group had 2 helicopters there, see some of the pics that we will send you.

87 b - More INCOME POTENTIAL
The island is however full set up to operate as a successful tourist business.
The island would be an excellent location to set up the first Dive shop in the area, or indeed a sport fishing business.

88 -  What about your fee to MANAGE the island ?
